How to Buy Leather Boots for Women

Posted on: September 22, 2011

Nothing could be better than wearing a pair of leather boots women adore the most. You slip them on and an air of confidence and beauty sweeps over you. There is nothing like it, how they look, and most importantly, how leather boots make you feel. Even better, if you buy the right pair of boots it will go with just about anything in your wardrobe. Whether you own several pairs of boots, or you are just starting out, the fun just begins when you start searching for that special pair you will call your own. Where you should you start? Outside of the style of leather boot you want, there are a few important factors to consider. I will discuss them here.

First thing that you must get right is sizing. These boots are designed to be a one size fits all kind of shoe. The actual foot part of the boot will be sized properly, unless you are an extra wide, but the rest of the boot will be a general size to fit a wide array of leg shapes. This is where your work begins. The shaft, that part of the boot that fits around your legs, must be properly fit. Now, if you are confident that your feet width, ankles, calves, and knees are of typical size then you will have no problem sizing your boot. But if you are petite, or a plus sized woman, then you may need to go to a specialty store to size your boot. You won’t find these shops at your local mall, or down town, most likely. You will find these specialty size boot shops online.

The next thing you must do, and do correctly, is get the correct measurements. You see, these specialty fitting stores will need exact measurements of your foot width, calf diameter, and the length of your leg. If you get this wrong you might end up with a boot that fits too tight around your calf and it will feel uncomfortable, not to mention that it won’t look right either. Also, if you have a wide foot make sure you get that part of boot sized properly. There is nothing worse that tight fitting leather around the arch of your foot, and it can be painful. If you wear improperly sized leather boots they can rub on your skin and form blisters. In addition, the top part of the boot can rub against your knee cap making it extremely uncomfortable.

Lastly, you need to think about the material of your boot. There are only a few types to consider and each has its own benefits and drawbacks. Most leather boot material are either leather, tanned calf skin, suede, or patent leather. The toughest and most durable is straight away leather. It’s tough, dirt and water resistant, and will last a long time. Tanned calf skin is the softest, and probably the best feeling material to your skin. Suede is beautiful looking, but it can get a shiny look as it ages.   Finally, patent leather has that beautiful polished looking sheen and is extremely water resistant, but it doesn’t breathe as well as the other materials.

There you have it, a few points to consider when you buy your first pair, or next pair, of leather boots women just adore. Get the sizing correct, and think about the material of the boot, and this will go a long way making sure your next pair of boots will make you feel stunning.

Perhaps you are ready for a pair of leather boots women just love to wear, and men find irresistible.
